Settling up

Read the Settle page, choose a settlement method, handle disputes, and export records.

CareSplit doesn't force a monthly close — settle whenever your family prefers. Most families settle once a month around payday, but quarterly or one-shot settlements all work.

Reading the Settle page

Two sections: **You owe** (people you still need to pay) and **Owed to you** (people who owe you). Each row shows the net balance after every expense and recorded payment between that pair.

Settlement methods

  • **DuitNow / bank transfer:** the most common option. Transfer the amount, then record it in CareSplit with the screenshot attached.
  • **Cash:** hand over the money in person, record it in CareSplit without an attachment, and ask the recipient to acknowledge.
  • **Offsetting future expenses:** instead of transferring, agree that the person who owes will cover the next shared cost. Record both halves in CareSplit.

Exporting for records

Settings → Export downloads every expense, split, and payment as CSV — useful for year-end tax records or sharing with a sibling who wants their own copy.
